In a recent interview with Tits Upon Tyne, Thit Lin, the Denmark-born, Berlin-based singer-songwriter, shared fascinating insights into her creative process and inspirations. When asked about her favorite song ever, she enthusiastically revealed, “A brand-new track I just created for my project at a songwriting camp I attended last week.” Her excitement was palpable as she described the demo, envisioning it as a perfect follow-up single to her debut EP, highlighting her growth as a songwriter.
Discussing the collaborative process behind the track, Thit Lin revealed, “I wrote it together with a couple of super talented musicians, and it was such a crazy cool experience collaborating with them for my project.” This songwriting camp pushed her out of her comfort zone, allowing her to explore new avenues for her music.
Thit Lin draws inspiration from observing life’s moments, both big and small, and encapsulating them in her songs. Reflecting on her motivations and the inspiration behind her latest release, she explained, “Each song on my debut EP represents a soundtrack to a different phase of my life that I’ve reflected on and reframed with an ironic twist.” Her retrospective approach empowers her to take control of her emotions and infuse her music with depth.
When asked for recommendations, Thit Lin pointed to dreamy alt pop artists like Fiji Blue, LAUREL, Kali Uchis, Griff, ELIO, and The War On Drugs. These artists resonate with her musical style and provide a complementary listening experience for her audience.
Looking ahead to 2023, Thit Lin expressed her aspirations, stating, “To continue making new songs that I feel are even better than the last ones I did!” Her dedication to constant improvement promises an exciting journey of musical evolution.
